Dom via Festigrat alpine tour (AD) from Randa, Valais 2014-08-25
Dom 4545m via Festigrat (AD) from Domhütte. The climbing up to Festigrat was done in the dark at 0530. It's about 70 meters long, graded (II) and there are about 4 fixed belay points with up to 10 meters between. There were footsteps in the firn on Festigrat, which made the ascent quite fast, but a bit exposed in a couple of short passages (55 degree firn and rock). Once we entered Festigrat the wind picked up very fast, and an additional layer of clothing was required. About half way up the ridge we found a sheltered spot were we could change.
