Markus enjoying the view from Karlstor, the shady saddle between Kleiner and Grosser Widderstein. The tour is well known for staying in good condition for several days after snowfall. But today, spring temps have already caught up and the snow is heavy.
The cross-country track in Schwende is in superb shape after the recent snowfalls. Thank you Loipenteam!
Evening light radiating over over Schwarzwassertal
Hählekopf and Hohe Ifen bathing in fresh snow and sunlight, during an easy tour to Kuhgehrenspitze.
Idyllic winter scenery on one of the few powder days so far this year.
The day dawns with deep, fresh powder snow everywhere...
Toreck - short, steep and absolutely scenic. Our first ski tour of the season couldn't have had better snow conditions. The absence of snow this winter long left skiers in despair, but today that resentment is forgotten. May it only last...
Early winter awe.
Fatbiking on the old MTB ;-)
2½ months since Watzmann, and Markus is still rehabilitating and bound to stay down in the valley. But we're not very fond of suffering. Theres' always something, no matter how little, to enjoy and explore. Rivers and waterfalls, a lingering flower, the wanderings of mind...
At road's end
During a short mountainbike tour around Kleinwalsertal this panorama of Hohe Ifen opens up before us.
Sandra participates in a compass course to eventually upgrade her diving certificate to CMAS**. Last time the compass had got stuck and was useless, but today all went according to plan! :-)
Sea of cottongrass
Cottongrass is one of our favourite plants - so you can imagine the euphoria at finding a sea full of them! Here at Piesenkopf, Germany. (Eriophorum angustifolium / Schmalblättriges Wollgras / Ängsull)
Snow in June
The little meltwater lake below Torkopf, viewing towards Torscharte - the hikeable gap in the immense wall Obere Gottesackerwände.
When spring turns to lush summer, the heath spotted-orchids become common on the rich meadows of Kleinwalsertal.
A quick morning tour to Toreck.
Time is short since we have a birthday in Munich to celebrate, but we cannot resist a quick run at our favourite home mountain. Though , it being a beautiful Saturday, we're definitely not alone on this very popular tour. One has to be quick to get the most of the perfect snow on descent.
It's frozen! Up until now we thought there wouldn't be any ice climbing done at all this year, since there wasn't any local ice to practice on. Who would have thought that this would freeze up after all the warm spring weather? Well, now we have to reconsider.
A 1.2 liter glass is spacey enough for lots of after ski tour anti oxidants. Ask Markus for the secret recipe!
Markus flying around with his quadrocopter.
Finally proper winter! We've had around 70 cm of snow in three days. Several hiking roads around Kleinwalsertal were closed today (03.02.2015) due to avalanche risk. The conditions in and around the pists are very good.
Fabulous weather at Gamsfuss. But there will be even more fresh powder when skiing down!
