Rock ptarmigan / Alpenschneehuhn / Fjällripa
This beautiful female ptarmigan (Alpenschneehuhn) was photographed at maximum zoom. To disturb it in the winter would induce much unneccesary stress. Thus we turned around here, heading now for Berlingerköpfle.

This is off the standard track to Berlingerköpfle. One is rewarded by magnificent views - summits aren't important here.

Small in a giant, lonely landscape.
Why are the mountains so attractive? One of many reasons may be, that their beauty is too immense. No matter how long the gaze, one can never quite take it all in.
We leave the standard track to Berlingerköpfle and Hählekopf to get closer to the beautiful ridges of Hohe Ifen.
